About Newsom Healthcare
Newsom Healthcare of Desoto County, LLC was founded by Sandra Newsom in 2008.
As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, she has been providing compassionate, patient-centered care for over 25 years. She remains committed to providing excellent-quality medical care to Desoto County residents, particularly those in the Horn Lake community, where she has lived for 40 years.
Sandra grew up in the Mississippi Delta. She graduated from Delta State University with a bachelor’s degree in education with a focus in Biology. She taught biology at Southaven High School for 1 year before being selected to serve on a State Board of Education Committee to write a curriculum for Anatomy and Physiology to be taught at the high school level across the state.
After teaching for 9 years at Southaven High School in Desoto County, Sandra attended the University of Tennessee, Memphis where she began studying in the College of Nursing. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, she decided to further her education and pursued a Master’s Degree in Nursing. Sandra became credentialed as a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in 1996.
Sandra collaborates with Dr Ciao Newman, an internal medicine physician.
"My family has seen Sandra Newsom for several years now. Her office staff is very professional and very personable. We love Sandra, she treats us like we're her family and she NEVER rushes you through your appointment. Extremely caring and friendly staff. We are on a first name basis with everyone, so if you're looking for a nurse practitioner for your general medical care than you should give them a call."
